This role is designed for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence ethics and governance, specifically within the Department of Defense (DoD) ecosystem. The ideal candidate holds an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and has at least 8 years of IT experience, with a heavy focus on the intersection of AI policy, bias mitigation, and technical risk management.
As a Subject Matter Expert, you will have a high-impact seat at the table, shaping Responsible AI (RAI) strategies for national security missions. Job Description
Analytica is seeking a highly skilled and security-clearedArtificial Intelligence Ethics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and advise on the ethical implementation, integration, and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) platforms across the enterprise. This position provides expert-level technical leadership and strategic guidance on the selection and use of AI platforms, ensuring that AI systems adhere to principles of fairness, accountability, transparency, and trustworthiness, particularly in federal and defense environments.
The AI Ethics SMEwill play a pivotal role in shaping Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) strategy, delivering ethical assessments, and guiding key stakeholders in aligning AI technologies with Department of Defense (DoD) values and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance on the ethical adoption and use of AI platforms, including advising on which platforms should be used and how, based on their ethical and operational suitability.
- Design, facilitate, and analyze Responsible AI (RAI) Tabletop Exercises (TTXs) to assess organizational readiness, highlight ethical risks, and inform decision-making.
- Conduct RAI gap analyses to identify ethical deficiencies or capability limitations in current DoD AI systems; develop and scope Courses of Action (COAs) and project recommendations to close these gaps.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, human factors, legal, and policy stakeholders to ensure AI systems meet cross-disciplinary ethical standards.
- Provide strategic support for the development of RAI principles, implementation roadmaps, policy frameworks, and related governance structures.
- Stay abreast of advancements in AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, and federal RAI guidelines and advise senior leadership on their implications.
- Support the integration of ethical risk management, algorithmic transparency, and bias mitigation strategies in system development and deployment.
- Contribute to cross-agency ethics initiatives, including DoD AI policy formation, working groups, and ethics governance councils.
Required Qualifications- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Applied Ethics, Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Data Ethics, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of related IT experience, including 5 years specifically in artificial intelligence technology, applications, or policy.
- Minimum 2 years of disciplinary expertise across cybersecurity, human factors, ethics, and policy as applied to AI systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing and conducting Responsible AI Tabletop Exercises.
- Minimum 2 years of experience conducting RAI gap analyses for the DoD, and scoping Courses of Action (COAs) and projects to address RAI capability and process needs.
Preferred Qualifications- Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Applied Ethics, Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Data Ethics, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in federal or defense AI ethics policy formulation, especially within the Department of Defense.
- Familiarity with major frameworks and guidance, including:
- DoD Responsible AI Strategy and Implementation Pathway
- NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF)
- OECD AI Principles
- Experience collaborating with high-level ethics councils or AI working groups.
