Work type: remote
Location: Home based - Worldwide
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a senior-level leader with a deep background in Linux infrastructure and distributed systems. You should have a "dual-threat" background—possessing both the software engineering chops (Python, Go, or C++) and the operational excellence required to manage mission-critical private clouds. Experience managing remote, distributed teams and a strong command of OpenStack are essential.
As a globally remote position, you’ll enjoy a high degree of autonomy while staying connected through two to four international team sprints annually. Standout perks include a $2,000 annual professional development budget, travel upgrades for long-haul flights (Priority Pass), and a performance-driven bonus structure. This is a chance to work at the forefront of the Ubuntu ecosystem in a profitable, founder-led environment that has embraced remote work since 2004.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have professional experience managing OpenStack deployments and Linux system administration.
* Are comfortable overseeing the "BootStack" managed service, balancing engineer velocity with customer SLAs.
* Advocate for disciplined engineering processes, including rigorous testing and maintainable code.
* Thrive in a remote-first culture but are willing to travel globally ~20% of the time for strategy and collaboration.
