Work type: remote
Location: Home based - EMEA
Type: Full-time
This role is designed for a technical expert with a deep background in Linux infrastructure and a passion for open-source ecosystems. The ideal candidate is a mid-level engineer who transitions comfortably between support and software engineering, possessing significant hands-on experience with virtualization, container orchestration, and complex networking.
A major highlight of this position is the opportunity to work at the heart of the Ubuntu ecosystem while benefiting from a global, remote-first culture (despite the Riyadh office requirement). Canonical offers a professional development budget of $2,000 USD annually, performance-based bonuses, and unique travel perks like twice-yearly international "sprints" and Priority Pass for travel.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have extensive experience with OpenStack, Kubernetes, and KVM/LXD virtualization.
* Are comfortable troubleshooting complex data-center networking and storage (Ceph) under pressure.
* Possess strong scripting skills and a track record of contributing to or supporting open-source software.
* Can work from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and enjoy traveling internationally twice a year for team collaboration.
