This leadership role is designed for a seasoned Machine Learning expert with a deep background in **Trust & Safety**. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of AI experience, specifically in building systems that combat abuse and moderate content at scale. You should have a proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams (Applied Science and Engineering) and possess high-level technical fluency in NLP, transformer models, and fine-tuning LLMs. The most attractive aspects of this position include a highly competitive salary range ($265k–$365k) plus equity, and a **fully remote** flexible work arrangement within the U.S. As a Director, you’ll have significant agency over the roadmap for one of the world's largest communication platforms, influencing everything from real-time detection logic to ethical AI frameworks. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have successfully shipped large-scale ML production systems for consumer-facing social platforms. * Lead with an "entrepreneurial mindset" and enjoy scaling ML organizations from the ground up. * Can translate complex technical safety risks into clear strategies for executive leadership. * Are passionate about fostering healthy online communities through proactive, automated moderation.

We’re looking for a Director of Machine Learning to lead Reddit’s efforts in building industry-leading ML systems that keep our platform safe and foster healthy online communities. This leader will drive the strategy, development, and deployment of machine learning models that detect and prevent harmful content and behavior at scale.

In this role, you will own the roadmap for Safety and moderation ML, lead a team of applied scientists and engineers, and partner cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Safety operations, Trust & Community, and AI/ML Platform to innovate on real-time detection, automation, and user protection systems. You will leverage modern ML — including fine-tuned LLMs — to ensure Reddit remains a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for our global user base.
