Type: Full-time
This role is designed for a technical leader with deep roots in the Linux ecosystem and a background in customer-facing engineering. The ideal candidate has transitioned from a hands-on developer (proficient in C, Go, or Python) to a manager who can bridge the gap between complex embedded systems—like BIOS, firmware, and Yocto—and business-driven solution architecture.
As a remote-first position covering the Americas, this role offers high autonomy and a global culture. Standout perks include a $2,000 annual learning budget, performance bonuses, and twice-yearly international travel for team "sprints" to align on strategy. Canonical is a "high bar" environment, so expect a rigorous focus on engineering excellence and disciplined processes.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have extensive experience with Yocto, Debian, or Ubuntu and low-level Linux boot sequences.
* Enjoy the hybrid nature of Pre-sales and Professional Services, moving between coding and client strategy.
* Are a "humble learner" with an exceptional academic record who thrives in a distributed, remote-first team.
* Want to lead a team of engineers while remaining an active voice in the Linux and IoT community.
