Work type: onsite
Location: Office Based - Taipei, Taiwan
Type: Full-time
This role is for a high-caliber technical leader with a deep background in low-level Linux systems and hardware enablement. You are likely an "engineer's director"—someone who can still audit a patch or architectural spec while managing other managers. The position is centered in Taipei to oversee a world-class certification lab focused on continuous quality for Ubuntu across x86, ARM, and RISC-V architectures.
The standout feature of this position is the mission to revolutionize Linux certification from a "point-in-time" check to a continuous, life-cycle process. You’ll lead a global team but benefit from a stable base in the Taipei office. Canonical offers unique perks including a $2,000 annual learning budget, performance bonuses, and international travel for team "sprints" twice a year.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have an exceptional track record in system software engineering (specifically Debian/Ubuntu) and embedded systems.
* Experience managing managers and scaling high-performance engineering teams.
* Are passionate about open-source sustainability, including hardware energy consumption and carbon footprint tracking.
* Possess a strong academic background and a "leadership by example" work ethic.
