IoT Field Engineer - China & Region at Canonical
This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level bilingual (English/Chinese) Linux engineer who enjoys the intersection of software development and customer-facing
Work type: onsite
Location: Home Based - Shenzhen, China
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level bilingual (English/Chinese) Linux engineer who enjoys the intersection of software development and customer-facing consultancy. The perfect candidate has at least 5 years of experience with Linux—specifically Ubuntu—and a deep understanding of embedded systems, ARM/x86 architectures, and the IoT ecosystem.
As a Field Engineer based in Shenzhen, you will act as a trusted technical advisor, bridging the gap between sales and engineering. You’ll spend about 30% of your time traveling (domestically and internationally) to help major companies in automotive, robotics, and industrial sectors deploy complex IoT solutions. Canonical offers a unique "home-based" remote model within a globally distributed team, providing professional autonomy and high-level exposure to cutting-edge open-source tech.
**You might be a good fit if you:**
* Have hands-on experience with the Linux kernel, BSPs, and software packaging.
* Are comfortable presenting technical custom solutions to stakeholders and partners.
* Know your way around hardware boot loaders and various silicon options for IoT devices.
* Are self-disciplined enough to thrive in a remote environment while supporting high-stakes enterprise sales cycles.
