MAAS Data Center Infrastructure Engineer (Toronto area) at Canonical
This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer who bridges the gap between physical hardware and software automation. You should have a strong background in Linux
Work type: hybrid
Location: Office Based - Toronto, Canada
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer who bridges the gap between physical hardware and software automation. You should have a strong background in Linux administration and a genuine passion for "home lab" style hardware hacking, combined with the professional Python skills needed to manage data center infrastructure programmatically. A STEM degree and an exceptional academic record are required.
The standout feature of this position is the blend of hands-on hardware work in a Toronto-based lab with Canonical’s world-class distributed culture. While you will be office-based to manage physical servers and silicon from vendors like Intel or NVIDIA, you’ll still participate in the company’s global "sprints," traveling internationally up to four times a year. Benefits include a $2,000 annual learning budget and a performance-driven bonus.
**You might be a good fit if you:**
* Enjoy racking, cabling, and inventorying cutting-edge server hardware.
* Have professional experience writing Python to automate infrastructure or monitoring.
* Are an expert in Linux environments and want to work directly with the creators of Ubuntu.
* Thrive in a high-standard environment that values academic excellence and systematic troubleshooting.
