Location: Office Based - Toronto, Canada
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a mid-level Python developer with a strong interest in "bare metal" infrastructure and data center automation. You should have a solid foundation in Linux administration and a STEM background. While Canonical is known for remote work, this specific position is a **hybrid, office-based role in Toronto** because it requires hands-on management and operation of a physical hardware lab.
The standout feature of this position is the opportunity to work with cutting-edge, pre-release silicon and server designs from global vendors. You’ll be building the tooling (MAAS) that automates large-scale hardware deployments. Canonical offers a unique culture involving international travel for team "sprints" up to four times a year, a $2,000 USD annual learning budget, and performance-based bonuses alongside annual salary reviews.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have professional experience writing Python and managing Linux environments.
* Enjoy "hacking" in a home lab and have a genuine curiosity about how hardware and kernels interact.
* Are comfortable working in a physical lab environment to troubleshoot and configure servers and switches.
* Have an exceptional academic record and enjoy solving complex, distributed systems problems.
