You should be a "player-coach" who thrives on the intersection of technical architecture and product growth, specifically within high-stakes environments like payment processing and conversion optimization. The compensation is highly competitive, reaching up to $306k base plus equity. While the role requires a hybrid presence in San Francisco (3 days/week), it offers the chance to lead a mission-driven team at a massive scale—overseeing a donation funnel that has processed $40 billion. The Checkout team is at the heart of how donors give. The team owns the end-to-end donation funnel from landing pages to the payment and confirmation. The team’s mission is to maximize conversion, minimize friction, and deliver a high-performance, reliable, secure, and delightful checkout experience.

This team is cross-functional and highly collaborative, partnering closely with Product, Design, Analytics, Payments, Risk, and Platform teams to continuously improve the donor experience while maintaining world-class reliability and performance.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing team that optimizes conversion, performance, and reliability across all donation checkout flows.

You’ll influence the technical roadmap, champion experimentation and A/B testing frameworks, and ensure that our payment integrations, fraud/risk safeguards, and user flows are seamless and trustworthy. As a hands-on, player-coach manager, you will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and shape a culture that values experimentation, autonomy, performance, and end-to-end ownership.

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days per week at the office, and we are therefore only able to consider candidates who are located or willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA.The Job

The annual U.S. salary range for this full-time position is $204,000 - $306,000. The company also offers equity and other benefits to employees, including healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k) saving program. In addition to this wage, there are geolocation differentials that will increase pay depending on the work location. Additionally pay may vary depending on other factors including skills, experience, education, or training.
