## JOB DESCRIPTION
In the fast-paced world of Top 10 market news, the Videojournalist is the eyes, ears, and voice of our coverage. We are looking for a visual storyteller who can do it all: shoot cinematic video, edit under intense deadline pressure, and provide compelling live narration for both broadcast and streaming platforms.
This is not a "behind-the-scenes" only role. You will be on the front lines of breaking news, often working independently to gather interviews and provide real-time audio/video reporting for our digital audience.
The Role: What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for the end-to-end production of news stories, from the initial shutter click to the final live transmission.
• Visual Excellence: Shoot high-quality video, audio, and stills in the field, newsroom, and studio using creative photography and lighting techniques.
• Live Narration & Hosting: Present extended, unscripted live content for our streaming platforms. You will often work solo, using a smartphone and professional accessories to narrate live events as they unfold.
• Field Gathering: Collect information and conduct interviews at the scene of news events to ensure our reporting is deep, accurate, and first.
• Technical Mastery: Operate live transmission equipment (bonded cellular, etc.) and maintain all assigned gear to ensure it is always "air-ready."
• Editorial Collaboration: Partner with reporters and producers to craft compelling packages and live shots that stand out in a crowded media landscape.
• Digital Integration: Contribute breaking news information, stills, and video clips to the station’s website and social media channels in real-time.
What You Bring to the Table
We are looking for a versatile "multimedia powerhouse" with a keen eye for detail and a voice for live reporting.
• The "Preditor" Skillset: Expert-level news videography and non-linear editing skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
• On-Air Potential: While primarily a behind-the-lens role, previous experience with on-camera or audio-only narration is a significant plus.
• Communication: Ability to deal effectively and politely with the public, government officials, and station staff, even in high-pressure situations.
• Operational Agility: A flexible mindset ready to pivot as news breaks and business priorities evolve.
• Tech Literacy: Proficiency with newsroom computer systems (or the ability to learn them quickly) and live broadcast hardware.
Education & Experience
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a News Videojournalist (or equivalent) in a commercial television news department.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
• Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
