Principal Applied Researcher AI/NLP at PointClickCare

This role is designed for a seasoned AI expert with a PhD or equivalent experience who has spent at least 4 years specifically applying NLP and Machine Learning within the healthcare sector. You should be a "player-coach" who is equally comfortable writing production-level Python and Java code as you are mentoring others on Large Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning and transformer architectures. The compensation is highly competitive (CAD 176k – 195k) for a fully remote position (within Canada/US), though it does require occasional travel to Mississauga or Salt Lake City for team events. As part of the Advanced Technology team, you will have significant R&D autonomy and the chance to work with one of the largest datasets in the post-acute care market. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have deep expertise in fine-tuning Hugging Face transformers and building RAG systems for clinical data. * Are proficient in Python, Java, and SQL, with experience deploying models in Azure or AWS SaaS environments. * Enjoy the "data wrangling" aspect of research, including cleaning unstructured healthcare data for model training. * Can translate complex AI research into pragmatic features for healthcare professionals.
