Summary

This role is designed for an experienced attorney with a deep background in insurance or regulated financial industries. With a minimum requirement of 10 years of experience, the ideal candidate has a sophisticated understanding of the F&I (Finance & Insurance) space, specifically vehicle service contracts and GAP insurance. You should be comfortable navigating complex state regulations and drafting intricate agreements for dealerships and lenders. This is a senior leadership position offering a competitive salary range of $160k–$190k and potential management responsibilities over a small team of attorneys and analysts. The role follows a hybrid model based in St. Louis, MO, providing a blend of in-person collaboration and remote flexibility. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

[1.](http://1.Provide) Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business clients on a range of issues such as insurance, warranty, finance and corporate laws.

[2.](http://2.Draft) Draft, review and negotiate agreements and other legal documents that support APD’s business with dealerships, producers, agents, and lenders.

[3.](http://3.Collaborate) Collaborate with others effectively across Protective’s businesses, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships to deliver results.

[4.](http://4.Under) Under direction of Vice President, Senior Counsel, participate in the legal department’s efforts in connection with strategic development, implementation and monitoring of new products, services, programs and other initiatives.

[5.](http://5.Research) Research state insurance and finance laws and regulations; write memoranda, as required, to management and/or company personnel on the applicability or effect of such laws and regulations.

[6.](http://6.Other) Other job duties and projects as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL SPECIFICATIONS:

•Law degree from ABA accredited law school

•Currently admitted to a state bar and in good standing

•Minimum 10 years’ experience in insurance or regulated financial industries and legal environments. Specific knowledge of F&I products (vehicle service contracts/GAP) and related industry participation programs preferred

•Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

•Excellent written and oral communication skills

•Ability to work effectively with and coordinate with others

•Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite

•Internal: Sales Department, Operations Department, Compliance Department, Accounting Department and Product Department. External: Outside counsel representing business partners, counsel representing consumers.

SUPERVISION/SUBORDINATES:

TBD – potentially managing 1-3 attorneys and senior legal analysts
