This role is designed for a seasoned leader with a deep background in **healthcare data** and a passion for mental health accessibility. You should have at least 6 years in Data Science and 3+ years managing teams. The ideal candidate isn’t just a technical expert in SQL/Python; they are a strategic partner who understands how to navigate the complexities of the health insurance (Payer) landscape and translate clinical outcomes into actionable business data. The compensation is highly competitive ($212k–$265k plus equity) and comes with a premium benefits package, including fertility reimbursement and therapy coverage. You’ll be leading a high-impact pillar at a Series D company, bridging the gap between Business Intelligence, product analytics, and causal inference. Job Description

Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.

## About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Science Manager to lead insights and data science across Headway’s Payer Group which is a key pillar that works with our health insurance partners.

In this role, you will lead the data science strategy for our Payer Group to unlock insights that improve outcomes for our patients and build and maintain trust with our Payer partners.

You will own end-to-end roadmap planning with Payer leadership at Headway to set the vision and create targets for different teams. Your work will help execute this vision through data modeling, product analytics, strategic analysis, causal inference and experimentation

As the data leader for Payer, you’ll build relationships with many stakeholders from Product, Network Quality, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Clinical.

# Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base pay range for this position is $212,000 - $265,000, based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for an equity grant, depending on the position and level.
