This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned engineering manager with deep roots in the fintech or banking space. The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of backend experience and a proven track record of managing teams that handle mission-critical "money movement." You should be comfortable navigating the complexities of financial ledgers, multi-rail payment systems (ACH, Card, RTP), and strict compliance requirements. The compensation is highly competitive, reaching up to $300k for Tier A markets, plus equity and a 401(k) match. As a fully remote role within a growth-stage company that recently emerged from stealth, it offers a rare mix of stability (strong investor backing) and the fast-paced influence of a scaling startup. You’ll have direct ownership over the platform’s financial integrity and cost-optimization strategies. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have managed engineering teams for at least 3 years within a regulated financial environment. * Possess deep technical knowledge of payment processors (like Stripe or Adyen) and various payment rails. * Prioritize "financial correctness" and data integrity above all else when designing distributed systems. * Thrive in "hands-on" leadership roles where you still participate in architecture reviews and high-level technical decisions.

About The Role

We are hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Payments platform team, responsible for the systems that charge customers, collect funds, and handle refunds.

This team owns the end-to-end payment lifecycle: authorization, charge, refund, reconciliation, and financial integrity across multiple payment rails and processors.

You will lead a team of backend engineers responsible for building a highly reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient payments platform that supports rapid product expansion while safeguarding customer funds.

This role requires hands-on leadership, you will drive architecture, execution, operational excellence, and team growth while partnering closely with Product, Risk, Finance, Compliance, and external financial partners.

Flex takes a market-based approach to pay, and compensation may vary depending on your primary work location. Work locations are categorized into one of three tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be commensurate with their experience, qualifications, and Flex’s internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
