Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Charlie Health

This role is ideal for a Senior ML Engineer who wants to apply their technical skills to high-stakes mental healthcare. You should have 2–4+ years of experience

Work type: onsite

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $170,000 – $220,000/yr

Type: Full-time

Summary

This role is ideal for a Senior ML Engineer who wants to apply their technical skills to high-stakes mental healthcare. You should have 2–4+ years of experience (depending on your degree) not just building models, but deploying them into production environments. The team is looking for a "builder" profile—someone comfortable working within a Python backend monolith and navigating complex SQL databases to improve client-provider matching and clinical outcomes. The most standout feature is the mission-driven nature of the work, directly impacting virtual behavioral health for over 100,000 clients. The compensation is competitive, reaching up to $220,000 base plus equity. While the role requires a significant in-person presence in NYC (4 days a week), you’ll be joining a localized, collaborative engineering hub in the Flatiron District during a high-growth phase. **You might be a good fit if you...** * Expertly navigate Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn) and backend frameworks like FastAPI. * Have experience with causal inference or advanced experimentation to prove model impact. * Enjoy "messy" problems and can translate vague clinical needs into technical roadmaps. * Prefer a high-intensity, in-office culture over a fully remote environment.

### Why Charlie Health?

Millions of people across the country are navigating mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and eating disorders, but too often, they’re met with barriers to care. From limited local options and long wait times to treatment that lacks personalization, behavioral healthcare can leave people feeling unseen and unsupported.

Charlie Health exists to change that. Our mission is to connect the world to life-saving behavioral health treatment. We deliver personalized, virtual care rooted in connection—between clients and clinicians, care teams, loved ones, and the communities that support them. By focusing on people with complex needs, we’re expanding access to meaningful care and driving better outcomes from the comfort of home.

As a rapidly growing organization, we're reaching more communities every day and building a team that’s redefining what behavioral health treatment can look like. If you're ready to use your skills to drive lasting change and help more people access the care they deserve, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role

Charlie Health leads the nation in high-acuity virtual behavioral care, having delivered life-saving treatment to more than 100,000 clients nationwide.
