Summary

This role is ideal for a seasoned SRE or Systems Engineer with a deep background in **low-level Linux internals** and infrastructure-as-code. Unlike many SRE roles that focus on high-level cloud providers, this position requires you to manage the actual hypervisors and control planes (KVM/QEMU) that power the cloud itself. You should be comfortable with a unique tech stack that combines **PHP** for automation with heavy networking protocols like **BGP**. Vultr offers a robust benefits package that stands out for its long-term stability and remote-first culture. Highlights include **100% company-paid medical premiums**, a dollar-for-dollar 401(k) match, and a **one-month paid sabbatical** every five years. While the salary range is $120k–$130k, the total compensation is bolstered by annual bonuses, home office stipends, and a $2,500 professional development budget. **You might be a good fit if you...** * Have extensive experience managing **KVM, QEMU, and libvirt** at scale. * Are proficient in **PHP** (specifically for scripting/automation) and configuration management via **Puppet**. * Understand software-defined networking, specifically **BGP and Open vSwitch (OVS)**. * Prefer working on "bare metal" and core infrastructure layers rather than just managing containers.
