Work type: remote
Location: Home based - Worldwide
Type: Full-time
This role is designed for a senior software engineer who views infrastructure through the lens of pure code rather than manual administration. You need to be highly proficient in **Python** and possess a deep-seated interest in the entire open-source stack—from bare-metal networking and Linux kernels up to Kubernetes and OpenStack.
Canonical offers a true "remote-first" culture with 1,200+ colleagues across 75+ countries. Standout perks include a **$2,000 annual professional development budget**, performance-based bonuses, and global travel. You will join the team twice a year at international "sprints" in rotating locations to collaborate in person, with travel upgrades for long-haul flights provided.
**You might be a good fit if you:**
* Approach automation as a software engineering discipline rather than a series of one-off scripts.
* Are fluent in Python and have a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
* Have hands-on experience managing Linux, OpenStack, or Kubernetes at scale.
* Feel comfortable working in high-pressure, mission-critical environments for global enterprise clients.
