This role is designed for a high-performing backend engineer with a strong background in distributed systems and performance-critical environments. While the title says "Senior Software Engineer," the responsibilities heavily emphasize leadership and team management for a team of ~8 engineers. You should have at least 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, particularly within the fintech or high-frequency trading space.
The position offers a strong compensation package ($186k - $218k base + equity) and the flexibility of a remote-USA setup, though it requires occasional travel for in-person offsites. You will be working at the heart of the "Institutional Markets" org, owning high-impact systems like matching engines and FIX gateways. This is a high-pressure, "intense" culture where you’ll be expected to solve complex scaling problems for a 24/7 global exchange.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have professional experience building low-latency trading systems or high-throughput messaging (specifically using Java, Aeron, or SBE).
* Enjoy a mix of hands-on technical architecture and mentoring/managing a team of engineers.
* Are comfortable in an "always-on" environment managing SLOs, SLIs, and critical incident responses.
* Are passionate about the crypto-economy and building "onchain" financial infrastructure.
