This role is designed for a seasoned infrastructure engineer with at least 5 years of experience who is deeply specialized in **Kubernetes** and cloud ecosystems (AWS/GCP). The ideal candidate isn't just a "user" of platforms but a builder who can develop backend services, create automation tooling, and scale distributed systems. The position offers a competitive base salary of **$186k – $219k**, supplemented by equity and performance bonuses. While the role is **fully remote** within the USA, it offers a "best of both worlds" approach with several mandatory in-person offsites each year to build team culture. The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.
The Compute team builds and operates the Kubernetes platform at Coinbase, which is the primary compute orchestration infrastructure for services at Coinbase. We work towards continuously improving the scalability, reliability, efficiency, and operational experience of using Kubernetes at Coinbase, working closely with the Routing, Security, Reliability, and Observability teams (among many others).
