Salary: $196,000 – $294,000/yr
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer with a deep background in **Trust & Safety or Security Engineering** (5+ years). You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of production systems and data science, with a specific interest in using LLMs to combat platform abuse. Success here requires a blend of TypeScript/Python proficiency and the ability to analyze complex threat actor behaviors across massive datasets. The compensation is highly competitive, reaching up to **$294,000**, plus equity and a flexible WFH budget. While the role is remote-friendly, it offers a "best of both worlds" setup: access to premium office hubs in NYC and SF for local candidates, or a fully remote structure for those further away. You’ll be joining an industry-leading team behind v0 and Next.js, directly influencing how the AI-native web is secured. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have hands-on experience using **LLMs for classification, prompt engineering, or fine-tuning.** * Are proficient in **TypeScript and Python** and comfortable with AWS infrastructure. * Can own the full lifecycle of a security feature, from initial research to production deployment. * Enjoy "cat-and-mouse" games with threat actors and building scalable defenses against them.
## About Vercel:
Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.
Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you're building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.
As a Senior Software Engineer on our Trust & Safety team at Vercel, you’ll build and operate systems that protect millions of developers and projects from abuse at internet scale. You’ll analyze real-world threat actor behavior, detect emerging abuse patterns across large datasets, and design production-ready mitigations to keep the platform safe without slowing developers. This role blends security engineering, data analysis, and applied LLM techniques, working closely with product, infrastructure, and security teams to turn evolving threats into scalable defenses.
If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you're located beyond that distance, the role is fully remote. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team.
