Work type: onsite
Location: Office Based - Taipei, Taiwan
Type: Full-time
This role is for a highly technical engineer with a strong background in Linux systems and hardware integration. The ideal candidate has deep experience in embedded systems, specifically working with Arm or non-X86 architectures, and possesses the debugging skills necessary to bring up Ubuntu on cutting-edge hardware from global silicon partners. Given the "Senior" designation, you should have a solid track record of handling complex root-cause analysis and interacting with OEM/ODM partners.
Unlike many of Canonical’s remote-first positions, this role is office-based in Taipei, providing a hub for direct collaboration. The company offers a performance-driven bonus, a $2,000 annual learning budget, and unique travel perks like Priority Pass for long-haul flights. You’ll be joining a profitable, founder-led organization that emphasizes high academic standards and excellence, but also provides global visibility through biannual international team sprints.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have extensive experience with bootloaders (u-boot), the Linux kernel, and system-level architecture.
* Are proficient in C, Python, and Bash for low-level system debugging.
* Can communicate fluently in English (Mandarin is a plus) to bridge the gap between firmware and hardware teams.
* Enjoy traveling internationally for team alignment and "sprints" twice a year.
