## Job Description
As a global custodian of consumer and business data, effectively managing our relationship with the federal & state governments, and regulators is critical to Experian’s business. Experian is seeking aSenior Vice President who will lead our government and regulatory affairs team, based in Washington DC.
The position will report to Experian’s Global General Counsel.
This role is responsible for designing a comprehensive program for monitoring policy, legislative and regulatory risk and advocating for outcomes that are consistent with objectives defined by the executive management of each of our businesses.
Within the US, the SVP will lead a team that:
- Oversees the identification and prioritization of legislative, regulatory and political risk at the federal and state governmental levels to support business unit objectives.
- Develops relationships with key legislators in Congress and State Capitals; their staffs/committee staffs and regulators to effectively channel the goals and desires of mutual understanding; engage business executives in relationship-building.
- Ensures coordination with business leaders, legal and compliance staff in formulating public policy advocacy strategies and priorities.
- Drives qualitative and quantitative analysis based in economics to formulate Government Affairs messages and strategies; and helps to prioritize opportunities based on economic impact, feasibility, and our values.
- Identifies new data or analytic capabilities that can support teams in improved decision making.
- Supports the C-suite executives and business unit leaders to appropriately engage government officials and support public policy initiatives.
- Works across cross functional teams to develop policy impact and requirements, leveraging the organizations expertise.
- Manages and leverages a network of external public policy lobbyists at the Federal and State levels and direct their efforts to ensure Experian’s legislative and regulatory priorities are achieved.
- Leads public policy outreach and coordination with numerous US and some International trade associations, alliances, coalitions, and think tanks to align resources in support of Experian’s legislative and regulatory priorities. These include:
- Consumer Data Industry Association
- Association of National Advertisers
- Interactive Advertising Bureau
- US and State Chambers of Commerce
- Consumer Bankers Association
- American Financial Services Association
- American FinTech Council
- Communicates the status of public policy issues to Experian executives, business leaders, clients and Board.
- Publishes monthly public policy updates and ad hoc memorandum to ensure business leaders are up-to-date on relevant policy, regulatory and legislative trends and events at the Global, Federal and State levels of government.
- Speaks at internal (Vision, Sales Conference, Future of Information Forum) and external conferences (Banking and FinTech trade groups, marketing trade groups) to build support and consensus around Experian’s legislative and regulatory priorities.
- Serves on multiple internal advisory groups and task forces.
- Advises corporate communications, investor relations, and community responsibility on designing external messages regarding legislation, public policy and regulatory actions.
- Coordinates strategies to ensure the development, growth and effectiveness of Experian PAC, including fundraising, communication, execution and compliance.
- Oversees compliance with Lobby Disclosure and FEC reporting requirements.
- Coordinates with Government Affairs teams in Experian’s other regions on multi-lateral global policies and initiatives that can bear on Experian’s North America businesses.
## Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in government relations and public policy within the financial services and/or data industry, including significant leadership responsibility.
- Proven expertise and credibility as a thought partner to senior executives in a publicly traded organization.
- Experience developing and overseeing a broad range of government affairs programs, including issue management, campaign execution, coalition-building, political action and strategic communications.
- Inspirational and visionary leadership skills with proven success leading high-performing teams.
- Experience with laws governing lobbying, campaign finance, and governmental ethics.
- Track record of navigating complex political and matrixed corporate settings to bring teams together to solve challenges and address opportunities.
- Ability to proactively advance and operationalize policy positions through high impact internal and external engagement.
- Experience preparing executives for Congressional hearings.
- Strong client service focus, sound business acumen, effective influencing skills, and the ability to manage multi‑dimensional projects in dynamic, fast‑changing environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize findings, prepare presentations that communicate status, recommendation, and actions to C-Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related area. Master’s Degree or Law Degree preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education. You will be also eligible for a variable pay opportunity.
