This role is ideal for a seasoned **Senior or Staff-level SRE** (5–8+ years of experience) who thrives in high-stakes, mission-critical environments. You should be a "rock in the storm" with deep expertise in the AWS ecosystem, Kubernetes, and managing massive data clusters (MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch). Since this is a 100% remote, bootstrapped, and profitable team, they are looking for a self-motivated engineer who values architectural simplicity and "building a house they want to live in." The compensation is highly competitive ($140k–$210k) and comes with standout flexibility, including a **4-day work week option** (at 80% pay) and incredibly generous PTO (5 weeks plus holiday breaks). You’ll be joining a stable, transparency-focused culture that avoids "BS," prioritizes open-source contributions, and hosts annual international retreats (Paris in 2025). **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have been the final point of escalation for complex production outages. * Possess "battle-worn" experience with Terraform, Ansible, and ArgoCD. * Are comfortable managing multi-terabyte databases and high-volume telemetry (130TB+/month). * Prefer a "ship it and own it" mentality over working in a siloed, bureaucratic corporate environment.

Our backend [tech stack](https://stackshare.io/close-crm/close) consists primarily of Python Flask web apps with our [TaskTiger](https://github.com/closeio/tasktiger) scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous task processing chores. Our data stores include MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like EKS, MSK, RDS and ElasticCache and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. We have CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, run automated tests and deploy to Kubernetes clusters. We also use these images in our local development environment allowing coding locally against all of our services. We have a well-documented [public API](https://developer.close.com/) that is consumed by our front-end JavaScript app as well as numerous integrations. Our infrastructure is heavily automated using Terraform, Ansible and other AWS tools.
