This role is ideal for a mid-level software engineer with a strong background in Python and a deep interest in the open-source ecosystem. You should have practical experience building container images and a solid understanding of Linux systems administration. Canonical is looking for someone who is comfortable working in a globally distributed, remote-first environment and who enjoys the intersection of software development and DevOps.
The standout feature of this position is the opportunity to work on Ubuntu-based "Rocks" (OCI images) and shape the future of cloud-native deployment. While the base salary is not specified, Canonical offers a performance-driven annual bonus and a generous $2,000 annual personal learning and development budget. You will also get to travel internationally up to 15% of the time for in-person team sprints in various global locations.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have professional experience with Python and container orchestration tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
* Are proficient in CI/CD automation using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Concourse.
* Enjoy contributing to open-source projects and engaging with a global community of developers.
* Value a fully remote lifestyle but look forward to meeting colleagues in person a few times a year.
