Summary

This mid-level role is ideal for a backend-leaning engineer who enjoys building the "brains" of a platform. You should have professional experience with a compiled language like Java or Go and a solid grasp of how to architect scalable web applications. Monitoring and performance tuning are central to this team, so it’s a great fit if you enjoy solving complex distributed systems problems and helping users optimize their database performance. The compensation range is exceptionally broad ($109k–$215k), offering significant upside for high-performers. Based in New York City, you’ll work in a hybrid capacity on MongoDB Atlas—the company’s flagship, fastest-growing product. Perks include a generous 20-week parental leave policy and a "full-stack" environment where you can touch everything from the API layer to React-based user interfaces. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have built and maintained high-traffic backend systems in Java, C#, or Go. * Are comfortable (or curious) working across the stack, specifically with TypeScript and React. * Enjoy "database forensics"—finding out why a query is slow and suggesting ways to fix it. * Prefer a hybrid NYC lifestyle that balances in-person collaboration with remote flexibility.
