The ideal candidate has a deep background in statistical modeling and advanced experimentation, with a proven track record of using data to solve complex business problems. Because this position focuses heavily on commerce and risk, expertise in fraud mitigation and financial modeling is essential. The compensation is highly competitive, starting at $170,000 plus bonuses and extensive perks like IKEA discounts and wellness stipends. While the company embraces a hybrid culture, note that this role requires two days per week in either the San Francisco or New York City office. This is a high-level individual contributor role with significant "Staff" level influence, offering the chance to partner directly with executive leadership on growth strategy. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have 7+ years of experience and a quantitative degree (MS/PhD preferred). * Expertly navigate SQL and Python to build automated data pipelines and ML models. * Have direct experience tackling fraud, chargebacks, and marketplace risk. * Can translate complex causal inference and statistical findings into clear business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring two days of in-office collaboration per week. The position can be based in either our San Francisco office or our new New York City office (opening April 2026).

Data Science plays a crucial role in driving impact at Taskrabbit. As a member of the team, you will help drive our business strategy forward through predictive insights. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Data Scientist to join us, working closely with cross-functional teams from product, finance, engineering, risk and operations to provide data-driven insights and solutions that enhance our products and accelerate growth while minimizing marketplace losses.

At Taskrabbit, our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable. Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks.
The base pay range for this position is $170,000 - $225,000. This range is representative of base pay only, and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts, such as company bonus or benefits. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, geography, and level.
