Summary

This role is designed for a seasoned engineering leader with deep expertise in high-stakes infrastructure. While the metadata labels it as "Mid-level," the requirements clearly demand a **Staff-level professional** with 7–10+ years of experience building distributed systems that handle immense traffic. You should be an expert in concurrency, state synchronization, and building resilient backend services that maintain 99.99% uptime. The compensation is highly competitive, reaching up to **$289k USD base** plus equity and a company-wide bonus. As a remote-first, AI-native company, Webflow offers significant flexibility and high-end benefits, including a 401(k) match and a sabbatical program. You will have a high degree of influence, leading architecture for a platform that powers 1% of all internet traffic. **You might be a good fit if you:** * Have a proven track record of managing complex state synchronization and conflict resolution in distributed environments. * Prefer "designing for failure" and take pride in operational excellence (SLIs/SLOs and observability). * Thrive in a "Staff" capacity—writing design docs, mentoring seniors, and driving technical alignment across multiple teams. * Are comfortable working across various backend stacks (Go, Rust, Java, or Node.js) and using AI-assisted tools to move faster.
