Work type: remote
Location: Home based - Worldwide
Type: Full-time
This role is designed for a highly technical Linux specialist who thrives on solving "unsolvable" problems. It is ideal for mid-level engineers with an exceptional academic background and a deep obsession with the open-source ecosystem. You should be comfortable moving across the entire stack—from bare metal and networking up to container orchestration—and have the coding chops (Python, Go, or C/C++) to debug and patch complex software issues.
As a "final point of escalation," you will enjoy significant technical autonomy and global impact. The role is 100% remote with a truly distributed company, though it requires a willingness to travel internationally roughly four times a year for team "sprints." While base salary isn't listed, the package includes an annual performance bonus, a $2,000 professional development budget, and travel perks like Priority Pass.
**You might be a good fit if you:**
* Have intensive hands-on experience with Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, or Kubernetes.
* Are proficient with deep-dive debugging tools like gdb, pdb, and tcpdump.
* Enjoy participating in upstream open-source communities and making code contributions.
* Are comfortable with a regular weekend working rotation to support mission-critical infrastructure.
