This role is designed for an experienced engineering leader with a strong foundation in the Linux ecosystem, specifically targeting those who understand the bridge between software and hardware. The ideal candidate has a STEM background, a track record in technical management, and is comfortable navigating the complexities of OEM/ODM relationships. Since this involves pre-loading Ubuntu onto consumer devices, expertise in low-level debugging and Ubuntu/Debian environments is essential.
A standout aspect of this position is the global impact; you will be responsible for bringing Ubuntu to millions of users via tier-1 hardware partners. While the role is based in Taipei, it offers significant international exposure through collaboration with distributed teams and travel to the US, EU, and China. It is a high-visibility leadership path that combines technical strategy with team scaling and mentorship.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Have a deep technical background in Linux (Ubuntu/Debian preferred) and low-level systems.
* Are billingual in English and Chinese and comfortable communicating with global stakeholders.
* Enjoy mentoring engineers and managing project lifecycles from kickoff to post-mortem.
* Are willing to travel internationally to coordinate with silicon providers and hardware manufacturers.
