Work type: remote
Location: Home based - EMEA
Type: Full-time
This role is ideal for a mid-level UX Designer with a strong technical orientation and an interest in infrastructure-level software. You should have a background in UX or a STEM field and a genuine curiosity about how data centers, clouds, and hardware operate. Because you will be designing for complex tools like Kubernetes and LXD, the ideal candidate is someone who can translate highly technical constraints into intuitive, efficient user experiences.
Canonical offers a mature remote-first culture with a focus on global collaboration. A standout feature of this position is the travel; you’ll attend in-person sprints twice a year in various global locations. While the base salary isn't disclosed, the package includes a $2,000 annual professional development budget, performance bonuses, and travel perks like Priority Pass for long-haul flights.
**You might be a good fit if you...**
* Enjoy solving "deep tech" design problems rather than standard consumer interfaces.
* Are comfortable presenting and defending design decisions to engineers and executives.
* Have a strong academic record and a scientific, research-driven approach to UX.
* Are located in the EMEA region and are willing to travel internationally for up to two weeks at a time.
